The Four Faces of Kiss And Who They Are

Gene Simmons

Gene's Make up timeline

Bio:
One of the most charismatic characters in the world of heavy rock, Simmons (b. Chaim Witz, 25 August 1949, Haifa, Israel) is bass player with Kiss. Indeed, he was a founder-member of the band in 1971 along with Paul Stanley. Simmons' first involvement with the music industry was in producing radio jingles, but it was not long before Kiss became a worldwide phenomenon. Simmons, along with his bandmates, donned complete make-up (in his case a blood-dripping, fire-eating demon) and it was not until 1983 when Kiss unmasked that the 'real' Gene Simmons was revealed. Simmons has recorded some 20 albums with Kiss and has penned a great deal of the material either solely or in partnership with Paul Stanley. In 1978, while still in full demonic make-up, he released a credible solo album. As Gene became famous for Kiss he also became famous as a movie actor acting with some of the top celebrities in Hollywood. Gene now lives in LA with Shannon Tweed. They have 2 children together.

Paul Stanley

Born Stanley Harvey Eisen, as Paul Stanley he became the guitarist/vocalist for New York's premier heavy metal band of the '70s, Kiss. In 1978 Stanley, along with the rest of the band, recorded solo albums. As Paul became famous in Kiss he also became known as an actor, but not on the silver screan, but on the stage. Paul played The phantom in the Phantom of the Opera

Ace Frehley

b. Paul Frehley, 22 April 1951, Bronx, New York, USA. Ace Frehley rose to fame as the lead guitarist for premier US hard rock band Kiss during its prime years. Often nicknamed 'Space Ace' by fans, Frehley released his first, self-titled solo album in September 1978, with albums by the other three members of Kiss also recorded simultaneously. The album, which found the guitarist attempting more diverse musical styles than he was allowed to follow within the context of Kiss, reached the Top 30 and spawned a number 13 single. Frehley left Kiss in December 1982 following a near-fatal car accident, and attempted to free himself of a drug habit over the next four years. He formed his own band, Frehley's Comet, in 1987, with whom he recorded three studio albums. He rejoined Kiss on their successful reunion tour in 1996.

Peter Criss

b. Peter Crisscoula, 27 December 1947, Brooklyn, New York, USA. Peter Criss's major claim to fame is that he was the original drummer with Kiss. During his time with the band, they played to sell out crowds worldwide, always presenting themselves in full make-up as part of their over-the-top image and never revealing their true appearances. Criss was known as 'The Cat'. In September 1978 all four members of Kiss recorded solo albums although still in the 'Kiss character' of full make-up. Peter Rejoined the band in 1995, but has left the band again.
